Mission
Statement
Why Not Prosper’s mission is to: Help female ex-offenders discover their own strength by providing them with the support and resources that will empower them to become responsible, economically self-sufficient and contributing members of the community. Specifically, this means helping these women to:
To advocate for women in the prison system
and to help as we were helped.
Who We Are The founder and many of the staff and volunteers at Why Not Prosper
share a common experience as female ex-offenders. More importantly,
everyone associated with Why Not Prosper shares the common goal of
decreasing recidivism among women. Challenged by the increasing number
of women behind bars and the children they leave behind, and the lack
of programs to address their complex needs, we are committed to providing
the support and resources women need to successfully transition from
prison back to family and community. We are justifiably proud of our
personal achievements, fueled by our own determination to succeed after
prison. But our success in helping others to do the same is what we
consider to be our most significant accomplishment.
